Earth is a very special planet – its orbits close enough to the sun to receive a lot of energy, but far enough to not be scorched. It is in what you might call the “goldilocks zone”, where the conditions are just right for life as we know it. To help keep these conditions constant, our planet is wrapped in a layer of greenhouse gases, this layer acts like a blanket, keeping the earth warm and shielding it from the cold of the Milky Way. When fossil fuels – coal, oil and natural gas – are burnt they release CO2 into the atmosphere. Because of this the levels of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere is increasing, which is in turn making the Earth warmer with devastating effects.
We might feel powerless, but if we tread a little lighter on the earth together we can build a better future on a liveable planet. Sometimes all it takes is one small action a day to make the difference, as the words in an old hymn… Little drops of water and little grains of sand make the mighty Oceans and the Bounteous land. We have dedicated this issue of Organic Growth to in a small way open a dialogue on “Climate Change”.
We do hope you find the Issue interesting and look forward to your valuable feedback and comments which we would be happy to carry in our next issue.
